Being Thankful And Giving Back
In our recent email detailing the story of our founder, Sarah Hackett, she talked about how rewarding it is to find temporary housing for policyholders, saying “I really liked it because I was making a direct difference in people's lives while still earning a living.”
That idea of making a difference in people's lives is a core component of who we at Housing HQ are. So, in addition to the work we do with displaced families, we've also been active supporters of the below charitable organizations (which we highly recommend if you're looking to make end-of-the-year charitable contributions).
RELAY FOR LIFE – AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY FUNDRAISER
We have been a longtime supporter of Relay for Life, a fundraising event in which team members take turns walking a track for 18 hours to draw attention to the non-stop nature of cancer and the strength cancer patients exhibit in their fight against the disease. One of our Regional Account Managers is the Chairperson for the relay in South Dayton, OH, where we have raised over $170,000 for the American Cancer Society in the last four years.
THE ARTIST IN ALL – MISERICORDIA HEART OF MERCY
Misericordia Heart of Mercy provides residential, training, and employment services to those with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The Artist In All event raises money and awareness for this organization through an exhibition and silent auction, featuring the artwork of Misericordia residents. We've been deeply involved supporters of Misericordia both directly and through this event since our company's founding over 20 years ago.
HONORABLE ORDER OF THE BLUE GOOSE
The Blue Goose is an insurance agency organization focused on charitable giving, and we're active members in regional chapters (called “Ponds”) throughout the country. In fact, at last summer's National Convention, the Cincinnati OH Pond (which is one of the Ponds we belong to) was awarded the Gordon Crowther Charity Award after having contributed in a single year over $40,000 in goods and monetary donations to local charities and families along with members volunteering their time. We're so thrilled to be able to partner with our incredible insurance colleagues while giving back to our communities.
Other organizations we've supported through the above
charities or directly:
American Red Cross • Autism Speaks • Bethany House Services of Cincinnati • Second Harvest Food Bank • Hannah's Treasure Chest • A Kid Again • St. Aloysius Orphanage • The Society of St. Vincent de Paul • Step Up • U.S. Department Of Veteran Affairs • United Way • The Well Of Mercy • YWCA Domestic Violence Shelter
We couldn't have supported these organizations without your continued business. Thank you for another wonderful year!
